National reaction to Baylor's loss to West Virginia: Bears have mastered art of scaring ranked teams

Baylor's comeback bid fell just short in a 38-36 loss to West Virginia, as the Bears are now 0-7 for the first time since 1969.

Below is some national reaction from media outlets as well as some Twitter reaction:

Associate Press:  The Associated Press believes Baylor is good at playing close games vs. ranked teams at home and they just need to finish the job.

"The Bears have mastered the art of giving a ranked team a scare at home. The next step is winning one. Baylor had a third-quarter lead and pushed then-No. 3 Oklahoma to the brink in a 49-41 loss its last time out at McLane Stadium on Sept. 23. The Bears actually outgained West Virginia 497-493, thanks to a 230-11 advantage in the fourth quarter."

John Werner and Brice Cherry, Waco Tribune: Werner and Cherry write that although this season has not gone to plan, the Bears have a bright future.

"Baylor dropped its seventh straight game this season, but the freshmen gave Baylor coach Matt Rhule a lot of reasons to be excited about the future of the program.

"Freshman quarterback Charlie Brewer led the Bears to 23 fourth-quarter points by hitting eight of 13 passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns and rushing 10 times for 48 yards.

"All four Baylor touchdowns were scored by freshmen. Trestan Ebner caught touchdown passes of 52 and 9 yards from Brewer and ran for a 40-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. John Lovett ran for a 7-yard touchdown in the third quarter."
