IT Governance publishes new guidance on India’s IT Act and Privacy Bill

IT Governance has published new content on its Indian website detailing the IT Act and the Privacy Bill.

NEW DELHI, INDIA, August 26, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- IT Governance, the global leaders in information security, risk management and compliance, has published new content on its Indian website detailing the IT Act and the Privacy Bill.

“The IT Act and the Privacy Bill are of paramount importance to Indian organisations,” says Founder and Executive Chairman of IT Governance, Alan Calder. “Failure to comply with the IT Act could result in up to three years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to one lakh rupees. Cyber terrorism is punishable by up to life imprisonment. Indian organisations seeking to comply with the IT Act need to have a robust information security management system (ISMS) in place.”

ISO27001 is the internationally recognised best-practice Standard that lays out the requirements of an ISMS and forms the backbone of every intelligent cyber security risk management strategy. The IT Act, the Privacy Bill and other standards, frameworks and methodologies need ISO27001 in order to deliver their specific added value.

IT Governance has a strong track record in helping organisations from around the world strengthen their ISMS, while aligning it for government or contractual requirements. In fact, Calder and his colleague Steve Watkins, director of training and consultancy at IT Governance, were the first in the world to successfully implement an ISMS in line with the international information security standard, ISO27001 (then BS7799).

The guidance of the IT Act and the Privacy Bill offered by IT Governance will give Indian organisations a brief, unbiased account of the legislation while also offering compliance advice.
