The Fijian Pearls lost their second match in the Taini Jamison Trophy competition last night after going down to Malawi 52-67 in Auckland.

Despite staging a comeback in the last quarter halving the margin, it was a game Fiji was unlikely to win at the North Shore Events Centre.

The Pearls lost the opening game outshined by the Jamaica ‘Sunshine Girls’ 38-83 on Wednesday.

The Fijians play Silver Ferns today who beat Malawi 75-42.

The competition is a build-up to the Commonwealth Games next month at the Gold Coast.

Interestingly, the Pearls will play Jamaica in the opening game on April 5 before they face Barbados on April 7, Australia on April 9, South Africa and the last game is against Northern Ireland.

Based on the latest world netball rankings, Fiji is ranked 12th .

Apart from the top four teams Australia, New Zealand, England and Jamaica, the other ranked above Fiji are South Africa (5), Malawi (6), Uganda (7),  Northern Ireland (8), Scotland (9), Wales (10) and Barbados (11).
