Ukraine, Moldova will soon be able to complete common border demarcation

Ukraine and Moldova are at the final stage of demarcation of the common border, Mission Deputy Head of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine Vladimir Saranchuk has said.

"As for the demarcation of our common border, which is 1,222 km, we are at the final stage of its fulfillment. I think that we will soon be able to bring this issue to the end," Saranchuk said at the presentation and discussion of the study entitled "Ukraine-Moldova: New Challenges and New Opportunities in Bilateral Relations" in Kyiv on Wednesday.

He also said that repair works are being carried out at the Palanca border crossing point, which will last until the end of 2018. "Mutual control is planned at this border crossing point," the diplomat said.

Saranchuk recalled the introduction of joint border control in the summer of 2017 at the Pervomaisk-Kuchurgan border point on the Transdniester section of the Ukrainian-Moldovan border. "I'm happy to say that despite the completely different statements before its functioning, today I can say that it works effectively, in a normal mode," he added.
