Qatar University (QU) on Sunday celebrated the success of students of its Young Scientists Center (QUYSC) who won prizes in a number of international exhibitions and competitions, in the presence of HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, HE President of Qatar University Dr. Hassan bin Rashid Al Derham, and a number of officials in the University.
The honorees included 17 students who won gold, silver and bronze medals in the Sixth International Exhibition for Innovation in Turkey, the International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition 2021 in Malaysia, and the activities of the sixth edition of the International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada.
In a speech on the occasion, HE President of Qatar University Dr. Hassan bin Rashid Al Derham praised the accomplishments achieved by the Center every year, stressing that the students' contributions and their international participation are a source of pride for the University.

Dr. Al Derham added that the program contributes to improving the University's output and increasing the interest of young people in innovation and research, because it selects topics that are popular and interesting to young people, which motivates them to be creative.

For her part, Director of Qatar University Young Scientists Center (QUYSC) Dr. Noora Jabr Al-Thani expressed her great pride in the achievements of the Center's students at the global level, and their honorable representation of the State of Qatar. "Today, we are reaping the fruits of hard work, achieving a national vision and a scientific revolution led by our creative youth in the fields of science and innovation," she said.

She stressed the Center's keenness on sponsoring and supporting Qatari students and integrating them into the research environment at Qatar University, which provides them with high-level skills and knowledge under the supervision of distinguished researchers, and motivates them to consolidate their energies in research, discovery and innovation.

The ceremony included a presentation by the QUYSC team included the most important achievements and initiatives in 2021, which contributed to the refinement of a generation of innovators despite the obstacles and difficulties imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education and HE the President of Qatar University honored the winning students. (QNA)
